🌆 Culture Shock

Finished off my week in Southern California. I was able to head into Los Angeles alongside my cousin to catch a Los Angeles Lakers game. Alec booked the tickets a few months back, and since then I’ve been having fun cheering on the Lakers as I don’t have a professional basketball team to cheer on here in Iowa. That has been super fun since my cousin knows lots about the franchise and all of the history embedded into it. It’s crazy how even if I feel like I know what LA will feel like, it is still culture shock. There are a crap ton of people there and it is always humbling to experience a new city.

Wrapping up my trip I was able to meet up with a buddy and take some photos in Laguna Beach. It’s always a good idea to wrap up a California trip with a sunset at the beach. I captured some of my favorite photos on the trip so peep my socials for those here soon.

I left my trip in good faith, but in all honesty, it’s always kind of a bummer heading back home as I work my tail off here, which I love, but it sure takes a few deep breaths to get back into it. I did a good job working while I was away, but with the extra content I shot on my trip, I came back in a little bit of a rut.

My first day back, I put in a massive day editing, and now I feel as if I’m in a good spot to start my week. I’m excited to continue on with my client work and I have a few new potential clients that are in the pipeline. I’m also excited to get my more “cinematic” California video edited.

🔮 Inspiration from This Week

👥 Person – Kobe Bryant – As I mentioned, I was able to attend a Lakers game in person, and got to see the newly unveiled Kobe statue. I didn’t grow up a die hard fan of his because I wasn’t huge in the basketball scene, but the last few years I’ve caught onto his mindset and the amount of hope and inspiration he pumped into this world, especially in SoCal. Standing in front of his statue gave me goosebumps. It was surrounded by a countless number of fans all looking to do the same thing. Look up some Kobe highlights as well as his interviews and you’ll see what I mean.

🍿 VideoThe Confusing Story of Sunday – Been love keeping track of what is happening with this brand. Jesse, the founder, was once apart of NELK. NELK was a little too aggressive of a brand for me to enjoy following along, but Sunday has been awesome. A team full of creativity, innovation, and passion. This video somewhat explains what’s happening, but I have also enjoyed some of their weekly updates as well.

✏️ Item –Sony 55mm F1.8 Sonnar T FE ZA Full Frame Prime Lens – Favorite lens of my photography career so far. I know, crazy right? It’s so small, and the sharpness and the way I can play with the edit on photos I capture with this thing are insane. I can put it on my a7iii, and it will start to feel ike a casual camera on the outside, but it obviously packs a punch on the inside.

🎬 My New Videos

🎥 YouTubeReacting to My Photos I Took in Orange County, California – During the past week, I visited Orange County, California. As usual, I brought my camera along and captured numerous moments during the trip. I took some time to reflect on my experiences and thoughts while taking these photographs, hoping that you might gain some insight from them.
